Sriracha Hummus

January 22, 2018

I kinda love spicy foods and sriracha is kinda one of my favorite things on the planet.  When I realized it was National Hot Sauce Day, I immediately thought I would make hummus, especially since the husband asked what kind of snacks we had in the house last night after I went to the store and didn't get any snacks.  OOPS! Hummus is literally the easiest thing to make and there's no reason to ever buy store-bought.  The best thing about hummus is that it's super versatile.  Since this recipe was inspired by National Hot Sauce day, I naturally made a sriracha hummus and topped it with chopped black olives, queso fresco, cilantro and Cholula jalepeno hot sauce because that's another one of my favorites!  This would make a great appetizer for Taco Tuesday tomorrow;)

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 Can garbanzo beans

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • 1 large garlic clove

  • 1 1/4 tsp sriracha

  • Cholula hot sauce (green)

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 2 tbsp water

  • Drizzle of olive oil

  • Black olives finely chopped

  • Cilantro

  • Queso fresco

DIRECTIONS

  1. Add garbanzo beans, garlic, lime juice, salt, sriracha, water and drizzle of olive oil to a food processor and blend until smooth.  You'll want to stop half way through and scrap down the sides with a spatula.

  2. Scoop into a container of your choice and top with black olives, cheese, cilantro and Cholula.

  3. Serve with pita chips or raw veggies.
